American born artist, Howard Behrens, created works with bright colors and lush textures that have a tropical and exotic feel. He was one of the world's most renowned palette artists, creating many masterpieces with a tool artists have traditionally used to mix oil paints before applying them to canvas with a paint brush. Behrens has tried, in his artwork, to capture the essence of the places he has visited by creating shadow, light and color using a palette knife instead of a brush for its boldness and control of the hues. Many of his images are of the gardens, inns, vistas and villas he saw in his travels around the world to such places as Italy, Bermuda, Mexico and across America.
The artist's works are owned by numerous, well-known collectors and are in the permanent collections of many museums.
