Exodus (from the Diaspora Suite)

Theo Tobiasse (1927 – 2012, Israeli/French) “Exodus” (Number 15 from the ‘Diaspora’ suite) is a limited edition color lithograph, signed in the bottom right and designated E.A. (Artist’s Proof) in the bottom left in pencil by the artist. The image measures 17.5 x 23 inches, and with the matting and frame, the work of art measures 28.5 x 34 inches.

The Jewish diaspora refers to the dispersion of Israelites/Jews out of their ancestral homeland and their subsequent settlement in other parts of the globe. Each piece in the suite tells a complete story of an episode in the history of Jewish exile. Tobias depicts the Biblical theme of the “Exodus” and a sense of survival through color and texture.
