Allison Lefcort (b. 1975, USA) “Joe Cool” (2020) Acrylic painting on paper, hand signed in gold pigment by the artist in the lower right of this unique work. The sheet measures 12 x 12 inches and with museum-quality fillet and mat in a thick and deep black frame, the striking work of art is 23.5 x 23.5”. Featured is Snoopy of the Peanuts comic strip world. Here he is portrayed as his alter ego, the sunglasses-wearing college student, “Joe Cool”. He is outlined in bold black and gray and set against a bright silver metallic background. The Certificate of Authenticity from Park West Gallery that accompanies this piece states that it is signed, titled and dated on the verso, but we have not examined it outside of the frame. Lefcort has been referred to as the Princess of Pop Art due to her unique artistic interpretations of familiar and popular images, people and items. She has been commissioned and licensed to interpret iconic Disney and Star Wars characters as well as many other famous cartoon and political figures, celebrities, musicians and rock stars. She concentrates her time designing and drafting a portrait or image before creating it in black, white and gray with bold vibrant colors in the background that work to accentuate the shapes and shadows to make her iconic images appear three-dimensional.
