Jean Dubuffet (1901 – 1985, French) “Le Sol Allegre” (Lively Soil, 1958) Rare limited edition (3/30) lithograph in colors, numbered, titled, signed and dated in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. The image is approximately 20 x 15.5 inches, and with the mat and frame, the work of art is 28.5 x 24 inches. [Not examined outside the frame, but the print appears in good condition, with some wear to the frame.]
“Le Sol Allegre” is one of a portfolio of ten lithographs created in 1958 - 1959 called ‘L’Anarchitecte’, and part of the ‘Phenomena’ series of 362 lithographs (1958 – 1961) in which the artist utilized an endless variety of techniques, tools and materials, and relates to the cosmography of the earth, the universe, natural substances, cycles and changes in nature.
