Alvar (b. 1935, Spain) aka Alvar Sunol Munoz-Ramos, “Regards” (1978) Limited-edition (450) color lithograph, hand-signed and designated E.A. (Epreuve d'Artiste, the French term for artist's proof) in pencil at the bottom of the sheet. The 11.5 x 8-inch work of art has been mounted, matted, and placed in a black wood frame measuring 19 x 15 inches. The figures appear to be outdoors peering through a window to an interior where a dove, symbolizing spiritual peace, is seen inside. Warm reds contrast with the figures and peaceful dove portrayed in cooling blues.

Alvar is a master of mediums, including oil paintings, graphite drawings, watercolors, ceramics, sculptures, murals, monuments, and hand-made lithographs. His works have been presented by over 40 museums (exhibitions and permanent collections) and over 95 galleries throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. For Alvar, art is life, and his images often portray the contrast of the interior and exterior of his home and studio. The interior is a harmonious space filled with everyday objects. The exterior represents the beauty and inspiration of the outside world suggesting that creativity exists everywhere, not just within the studio space. Alvar produced his first original lithographs for a one-man show at Gallery Drouant in 1963.
