Couple on Vespa

Marco Lodola (b. 1955, Italy) “Couple on Vespa” - Limited-edition color silk-screen print on paper, hand signed in the lower right and numbered 107/120 in the lower left by the artist. The sheet measures 30 x 20 cm (11.6 x 8.3 inches) and the work of art has been matted and placed in a simple black frame measuring 12.5 x 9.5 inches. The piece features a colorfully dressed couple riding on a classic red Italian scooter. The image was inspired by a scene from the 1953 Gregory Peck/Audrey Hepburn film, “Roman Holiday” in which the characters traveled the streets of Rome on the back of a Vespa.

Contemporary artist, Lodola is known for depictions of the Vespa, dance/dancers, pin-ups, and vintage cars from the 1950’s. His style of art includes strong, solid colors and simple pop shapes. He is also known for his luminous sculptures, focusing on themes of art, music, dance, cinema, and design.
