Zephyr Bird

Joan Miro (1893-1983, Spain.) "Zephyr Bird" (Zephir Vogel, Ouiseau Zephyr) was published in 1956 by A. Maight, Paris, in "Derriere le Mirour" (Behind the Mirror)(DLM #87-89) for the portfolio, "Terres de Grand Feu" (Land of Great Fire) for an exhibition. The image is referenced by printer, Mourlot, Paris, in Miro Lithographs, vol. II, #227 (1975.) One of Miro's most important and frequently illustrated lithographs, this beautiful and colorful piece contains a signature in the bottom right margin. Joan Miro was a Catalan Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramicist born in Barcelona. He has been a significant influence on late 20th-century Surrealist art with his avant-garde painting, innovative use of line, organic shapes, and color.
