In the manner of Giovanni Bologna; Three Elephants -This bronze sculpture depicts three elephants ascending in size from largest to smallest with upturned trunks. They each wear a detailed saddle. The elephants were cast using the ancient method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish. They are mounted upon a marble base inscribed with the name "G. Bologna." Dimensions are 11" x 7" and the weight is 8 pounds.
Giambologna (1529 – 1608) - born as Jean Boulogne (and incorrectly known as Giovanni da Bologna or Giovanni Bologna) — was a Flemish sculptor based in Italy, celebrated for his marble and bronze statuary in the late Renaissance or Mannerist style. He is known as the sculptor for the Medici Court in Florence. He was responsible for an enormous production of bronze statuettes; most were original, small compositions. His repertoire included human figures, animals and birds.
