Master English engraver of the Victorian Era, Samuel Cousins (1801-1887) print/etching created in 1882 using several intaglio processes, AFTER the 1875 painting,“Pomona” by John Everett Millais (1829-1896.) Varied print making methods, on cream chine wove paper, wide margins signed in pencil, Samuel Cousins, and with the NRX Print Sellers Association dry stamp, the reverse with E.L, Knoedler, 355 Fifth Avenue, NYC, numbered P221, F 40933. Sheet measuring 25 ½" by 20 ¼, plate 21 ¼" by 15 ¾". The British Museum offers the following description of this print: “A little girl standing in profile beside an apple barrow, holding an apple in one hand, gathering her apron in the other, turning her head to look slightly towards the viewer, in an orchard; after Millais; artist's proof. 1882 Mixed method on chine collé.”
