Robert Indiana (1928 - 2018) - "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik - Mozart." The title translates to 'A Little Night Music' and references the great Austrian composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 1787 composition. The image utilizes some of Indiana's familiar typographic style, but it developed simply because the artist loved listening to the Mozart work of the same name. The image is referenced as Catalogue Raisonne: Sheehan 62. This is a screenprint/serigraph in colors on cardboard, signed and dated (R Indiana 1971) and numbered (60/250) in pencil, printed and published by Edition Domberger, Filderstadt, with printed copyright sign 'Robert Indiana, 1971.' It measures 26" x 22" with full margins, and comes beautifully framed, matted and ready to hang at 34" x 30." Free shipping in the USA.
Indiana, born Robert Clark, is an American artist associated with the pop art movement. His "LOVE" print, first created for the Museum of Modern Art's Christmas card in 1965, was the basis for the widely distributed 1973 United States Postal Service "LOVE" stamp, and large sculptures of the image are installed in public spaces worldwide. Additionally, Indiana has created a highly original body of work that explores American identity, personal history and the power of abstraction and language.
