Postwar and Contemporary Italian artist Augusto Ranocchi is a versatile talent. He received traditional artistic training from the Instituto di Belle Arti and the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome. In Italy, he worked as a painter, draftsman, ceramic artist, and sculptor in bronze, wood, and marble. In 1981, Ranocchi moved to Los Angeles where he developed a dynamic contemporary style of cast, powerful color planes, lyrical gestural strokes and strong geometric structure. He has introduced collage and the use of metallic paints in addition to using "found surfaces" such as rope, yarn and stripes of canvas. In 1986, Augusto returned to his native Italy where he is proud to have been the most commissioned artist by the Vatican in the twentieth century.
