Sunny Day in Brittany

Daisy Marguerite Hughes (1882 – 1968, USA) “Sunny Day in Brittany” is a watercolor on paper that is signed in the lower right by the artist. Portrayed with large gestural brushstrokes, this work features a black clad figure, a path leading to the blue door of a house surrounded by a large leafy green tree, bushes, and other foliage. The sight measure is 13.5 x 15.5 inches, and the work of art has been beautifully matted and framed (with glass) and measures 25 x 29 inches.

California artist, Daisy Hughes, is known for impressionistic landscape and still life paintings as well as printmaking . She exhibited locally in the Los Angeles area and taught art in the public schools. Condition: Minor discoloration, otherwise in apparently good studio condition.
