Isaac Maimon (b. 1951, Israel) “Les Coquettes I” (Flirts) circa 1994-1995; Limited Edition Color Serigraph numbered (LXXXVIII/CXXV) and hand signed in pencil by the artist. The image measures 27 x 20 inches and the piece has been matted within a slim black metal frame resulting in a work of art sized 36.25 x 24.25 inches. According to the Printworld Directory of 2004, the screenprint (published by B & R International Art, Ltd of California and printed by Geo-Print, Tel Aviv) was first issued in 1994 in a set of two (Les Coquettes I, and II) for an opening gallery price (for both) of $1200 and by 2004, the gallery price for the set had risen to $1500 (unframed.)
Maimon was influenced by the Paris school of art, as well as the work of Henri Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec. His art reflects the French ‘boulevard culture’ that he observed while sitting at a back table of one of the coffeehouses and cafes that he built, managed and owned. He would sketch the café patrons, then return to his art studio to create the atmosphere by putting his unique lines and colors on canvas.
