(After) Joan Miro (1893-1983, Spain) “End of Illusion II” – Limited edition offset lithograph, facsimile signed in the margin of the plate and numbered 1000/5000. The sheet is 15 x 10.5 inches, and the work of art has been matted and placed in a black wood frame measuring 19 x 15 inches. The image is from Miro’s 1975 “Les Révolutions Scéniques Du XXe Siécle” (The Revolution of Stage Design in the 20th Century). The innovative surrealist piece reflects Miró's humor and his intrigue with theater. A vague impression of a mask with circular eyes is visible through the heavy black paint, lines, swirls, and bold pops of color. The 1975 limited edition color lithographs were printed by Adrien Maeght, Paris and published by Société International d'Art XXe Siècle, Paris. Literature reference: Maeght Editeur.
