Lisa Mee (b.1974, American) “Lady of Grace” (2020) is an original work of acrylic and metallic paint on canvas measuring 30 x 24 inches unframed and hand signed in the lower left. Lisa describes her art as Contemporary Expressionism while simultaneously fusing and merging other painting styles into her own unique creations.
In the artist’s own words: “I feel very strongly about 'Lady of Grace'. This painting took me months to complete. (My husband) Wayne said it is one of my masterworks. It's a meditative view of a woman. Compositionally, a play of straights and curves integrated into the face and hair of a woman. She is both mysterious yet approachable by not confronting the viewer with her gaze. There's also some Asian influence with the botanical accents (a Japanese fiber paper design). She has tremendous detail hand-drawn in ink in her hair. I painted and re-painted this several times to get it just right.”
A native of the New York-New Jersey area, contemporary artist Lisa Mee creates mixed media paintings that integrate metallic paints, papers, fabrics, and metals. She endeavors to create a luminous appearance of light and depth with a stained glass and mosaic appearance in her paintings. She has been inspired by her husband, artist Wayne Ensrud, and his mentor, Oskar Kokoschka, as well as masters, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. Her art has been exhibited by the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco CA, an institution that has purchased examples of her work. Mee is represented by several art galleries and has exhibited in many more. Lisa’s unique works have been acquired by numerous important art collectors in New York City as well as Europe and are found in both corporate and private collections.
