White Light of Santorini

Jean-Baptiste Valadie (b. 1933, France) “Femme Dans Un Paysage Grec” (Woman in a Greek Landscape) aka “White Light of Santorini”. Original limited-edition (165/199), color lithograph on vellum, hand-signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right. The sheet measures 22.5 x 30 inches and with the mat and frame, it is 24.25 x 36.25 inches. This work of art features sinewy lines and vivid color in his dreamlike depiction of a sensual woman admiring the sapphire blue water and white buildings of the breathtakingly beautiful Greek island of Santorini.

Valadie is known for his work in painting, copper engraving, sculpture, illustration, and stone lithography. He uses sparkling colors and illumination to create feminine, graceful, irresistible women set in locations he has seen in his travels.
