Designated E/A (‘épreuve d'artiste’ – Artist Proof), Titled, and Hand Signed in pencil in the lower margin (slightly faded) by the Dutch artist. The image is 12 x 16 inches and the color lithograph on hand-crafted paper has been triple matted and placed in a black wood frame measuring 19.25 x 25.25 inches.
Corneille was one of the founders of the CoBrA movement in 1949-1950. He used strong color contrasts and compact shapes in his images created in various media, including paintings, gouaches, drawings, prints, ceramics, and decorative objects depicting tropical landscapes and gardens with plants, animals, and women.
