Abisso (Abyss)

Lina Russo, "Abisso" (Abyss); Oil on canvas painting created in March 2021 by the Italian-born, NYC-based contemporary artist. The piece measures 32 x 22 inches and is on a heavy stretch frame with the artist’s hand-written signature and date on the verso. The work of art is from Russo’s ‘Abstract’ Collection and prominently features a couple embracing amidst shades of blue representing a chasm or depth, tempered by the image of a beautiful, graceful, golden butterfly in the lower right.

In the words of the artist, “I am a NYC-based artist, originally from Foggia, Italy, working primarily in oil on canvas, but also in sculpture, photography, and mixed media... Having spent portions of my life in Foggia, Rome, and New York City, I communicate my personal history across time and place through my art.
